What exactly is Custom Resources' Table Shops & Trivia?

It's a national student-operated advertising business. Marketing & Business students sell advertising in their local communities. The project is curriculum-based, meaning activities have been developed for the classroom to enhance the overall implementation of the project. Additionally, student sales materials and personalized support are provided at no cost.

What type of advertising?

Students sell advertising space the size of business cards. The ads are reproduced and made into 100 or more media stands (like the one at the top of this page). The ad booklets are placed on local cooperating restaurants' tables for a six-month period. The minimum price of each advertising space is $25 per space per month.

What about the trivia?

Approximately ten trivia questions provided by the students relating to local facts and interests will be typeset among the ads. People generally enjoy trivia and this is an added benefit to the advertiser. The trivia gives one more reason for people sitting in a restaurant to read the ad booklets.

How long does the project run?

Typically groups take 6-8 weeks to establish and profit from the Table Shops enterprise. The advertising is sold based on 6-month advertising periods. The project may be implemented one or two times during the school year.

How much money can we make?

Schools have earned $1000-8000 with their enterprise. See the profit scenarios for more information.

What does 'curriculum-based' mean exactly?

For Table Shops & Trivia this means classroom activities are provided to be used by the teacher when introducing, planning, and implementing the project. These activities are all complimentary to marketing, business and entrepreneurship curriculum. The teacher may elect to use all the activities, some, or none. If none are used, then the project is strictly a fund-raising project for the school.
